Experience the Bay!
Every summer, students participate in trips ranging from one to two weeks. These trips allow students to travel a tributary of the Bay by boat and canoe, and while fishing, they will explore the Bay's many habitats and experience its culture. The two-week trips also include time at one of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s 4 residential island centers.

Summer Program on the River at Christchurch School
The location is the Rappahannock River, 10 nautical miles from the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The school's ideal location and its own marine science boats provide students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about the Bay.

Chesapeake Bay Summer Experiences
The Living Classrooms Foundation offers summer programs that include on-board field experience, camping, and navigation and sampling techniques. Click on programs then summer programs for a schedule.

Center for Bay Studies
Location: The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries; Annapolis, Maryland Entering Grades: 6-11. The Chesapeake Bay is your classroom, and nearly all instruction will take place outdoors, whether it is on a workboat, an historic Skipjack, in a canoe, or in the marsh. Tents will provide housing on all trips; while the two-week trips will also visit one of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's rustic island residential centers. Participants must have a strong desire to participate in a rigorous outdoor experience!
